Tick Species Active in the Sierra Vista Area

Three tick species are consistently active in southern Arizona, and each behaves differently enough that the right treatment depends on identifying which one you’re dealing with.

Brown Dog Tick

The most common tick species in Arizona, the brown dog tick warrants the most attention for homeowners. It’s the only Arizona species capable of completing its entire life cycle indoors.
